What is QUEST?
QUEST is the Academic Gifted and Talented program at Spartanburg Preparatory School. QUEST serves students in grades 3-8 in one of two ways:
A) The student is state identified and part of the full QUEST program*
B) The student is participating in the Trial Placement QUEST program (grades 3-5 only)*

Mission of QUEST |
The mission of the Gifted and Talented Academic Program at Spartanburg Preparatory School is to maximize the potential of gifted and talented students by providing programs and services that match the unique characteristics and needs of these learners. The SPS GT program also serves to recognize and grow advanced learners in the K-2 foundation grades.
Goals of QUEST
1. SPS will recognize the learning and development differences of students with academic gifts and talents both affectively and cognitively to ensure specific outcomes.
2. SPS will provide equal opportunity to students with academic gifts and talents through a non-bias referral, screening, and identification process.
3. SPS will apply the theories and best practices based on research based strategies for students with academic gifts and talents.
4. SPS will ensure a learning environment that fosters personal and social responsibility, multicultural competence, and technical communication skills for students with academic gifts and talents.
5. SPS will develop and implement programming that meets the concomitant needs of students with academic gifts and talents.
6. SPS will formally assess ongoing professional development needs related to the standards and development of students with academic gifts and talents.

South Carolina Definition of Giftedness:
“Gifted and talented students are those who are identified in grades one through twelve as demonstrating high performance ability or potential in academic and/or artistic areas and therefore require educational programming beyond that normally provided by the general school programming in order to achieve their potential.”

Any student who feels that he/she has been subjected to discrimination, harassment, intimidation, or bullying should immediately contact the Coordinator or any other staff member. In addition, any student who observes any such incident should report the incident to the Coordinator, whether or not the victim files a complaint. Any school employee who observes an incident of discrimination, harassment, intimidation, or bullying or to whom such an incident is reported shall report the incident to the Coordinator, whether or not the victim files a complaint.
